He/Him
Hi, I’m Shawn!
First, let me congratulate you on making the decision to look for a counsellor. Finding a counsellor that’s a good fit for you can be intimidating sometimes, especially if this might be your first time seeing a counsellor or you’ve had an unhelpful experience previously. That said, let me encourage you that you’re taking a great step by exploring counselling!
Do you find that you can relate anything along these lines?
- Why do I worry about so many things?
- I wish I had someone to talk to.
- I used to go and socialize with friends, now I just want to stay home.
- My thoughts are out of control.
- Why can’t I control my emotions?
- Why am I so irritable?
- I’m so stressed, I don’t know what to do.
- Things have gotten really difficult in my relationship with my partner.
- I’m trying to work through some of the things that have happened in my life.
- I’d like to be healthier mentally, emotionally, and/or physically.
People see a counsellor for so many different reasons; the good news is that a journey of change, growth, meaning, and healing is possible for us all. Approaching counselling as a relationship where we work together, I offer a warm, empathy-based, and non-judgmental experience to clients as they pursue their goals for therapy.
Drawing from a diverse foundation of education and experience in psychology, theology, and leadership, I aim to tailor the counselling journey to the unique needs of each individual client or couple with care and attention.
Areas that I support clients include but are not limited to:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress management
- Relationships
- Grief & Loss
- Life transitions
- Couples therapy
When working with couples, I bring specialized training having completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy©. With individuals and couples alike, I incorporate research-based approaches that will work best with my clients.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #21365) with a master’s degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University. It would be my pleasure to meet you and explore your goals for counselling together.
